Getting Started
- Start/Stop: Click "Start Tuner" to begin listening
- Select Instrument: Choose your instrument from the dropdown
- Play a Note: Play a string on your instrument near your device
- Watch the Needle: Tune until the needle is centered
Understanding the Display
- Note Name: Shows the closest detected note (e.g., E, A, D)
- Needle Gauge: Shows if you're flat (left) or sharp (right)
- Cents: Shows how many cents off from perfect pitch (-50 to +50)
- Frequency: Shows the exact frequency being detected
Color Indicators
- Green: In tune! (within ±5 cents)
- Yellow: Close (within ±15 cents)
- Red: Out of tune (more than 15 cents off)
Supported Instruments
- Chromatic: All notes, no specific tuning
- Violin: GDAE
- Viola: CGDA
- Cello: CGDA (octave lower than viola)
- Guitar: Standard (EADGBE), Drop D (DADGBE)
- Bass: 4-string (EADG), 5-string (BEADG)
- Ukulele: Standard (GCEA)
Tips for Best Results
- Tune in a quiet environment
- Hold your instrument close to your device's microphone
- Pluck strings clearly and let them ring
- If the audio level shows "Too quiet", increase the Input Volume slider
- Adjust the A4 reference pitch if needed (default: 440 Hz)
